With the tower and walls of Brecon Castle located in its gardens, Brecon Castle Hotel is a heritage hotel of great charm and character.  It first opened as a coaching inn in the early 18th Century becoming the first modern hotel in Wales in 1809.  The hotel enjoys the best of both worlds being located in quiet and private grounds and on a prominent hill in the centre of town but with beautiful views from the front bedrooms and gardens over the river Usk and up to Pen-y-Fan and the Brecon Beacon mountains.  Privately owned and family run, it combines a friendly atmosphere with efficient service and excellent, locally-sourced food in its AA Rosette restaurant with traditional pub food in the bar.  All bedrooms are doubles or twins, ensuite and equipped with TV, tea/coffee making facilities, minibars, lap-top safes, radio and direct dial telephone.  Hearing loops are available and there is disabled access to all downstairs areas and gardens and two disabled bedrooms on the ground floor.  Free Wifi.  Extensive conference and team-building facilities.

Directions

From Southern England via the Severn Crossing...

Leave the M4 at junction 24, and follow the signs towards Monmouth (A449) and Abergavenny (A40). After about 14 miles branch left at Raglan to join the A40 to Abergavenny and then to Brecon.

From the Midlands and North...

Take the M5 and then the M50 to Ross-on-Wye. This road becomes the A449. Go to Monmouth and 9 miles past, branch right at the A40 to Abergavenny and on to Brecon.

From the South and West Wales...

From Carmarthen follow the A40 to Brecon. From Swansea and Cardiff in South Wales, approach on the A470.

Unless you are very local, the simplest way to find us approaching the town is from the Southern roundabout, where the A470 meets the A40. Follow the signs to the town centre, continue for about a mile. After crossing the bridge over the river Usk at the traffic lights turn immediately left, signposted towards Cradoc, and after 200 metres turn right, into Castle Square. You will see the hotel and the castle from the bridge as you cross the river Usk. It's quite a landmark.
